The FCC granted two waivers from St. Croix County, Wisconsin, to add frequency 157.450 MHz as a repeater output channel to the base stations comprising its VHF simulcast private LMR (PLMR) system. St. Croix sought a waiver of Part 90 rules so it could deploy frequency 157.450 MHz for base-to-mobile voice communications rather than paging transmissions. St. Croix also requested a waiver so it could operate on the frequency with a maximum transmitter output power of 100 watts.

The FCC granted with conditions a request from Rose Tree Fire Company No. 1 in Upper Providence Township, Pennsylvania, to modify public-safety radio station WQCG469 by raising the antenna height of a base station operating in the 470 – 512 MHz T-band. Rose Tree requested a waiver of the FCC’s suspension of the processing of certain T-Band applications.

The Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA) said the FCC is not issuing customary 10-year license renewals for T-band (470 – 512 MHz) licensees, as it contemplates next steps for the future of the spectrum. Congress mandated that the FCC begin auctioning the spectrum in 2021.

The FCC provided guidance to licensees of state channels in the 700 MHz public-safety narrowband spectrum (769 – 775/799 – 805 MHz), regarding their upcoming final substantial service benchmark showing. Licensees of state channels must demonstrate by June 13 that they are providing or prepared to provide “substantial service” to two-thirds of their population or territory.
